IMPORTANT MARKING OF 2021 GCSEs

This years the grading system will be built around the teachers' judgements - with schools allowed to decide on the evidence to be used, such as mock exams, coursework and essays. Essentially this will form a "Portfolio" of the students work.

There will be optional assessments set by exam boards for all subjects, but they will not be taken in exam conditions nor decide final grades. As such, results will be published earlier than usual this August to allow time to appeal. However, any students who wish to take the written papers, there will be an option of exams in autumn.

If students are unhappy at the outcome of what their school and teachers have decided, they can go through an appeals process, with no financial charge expected.

Therefore, at Smart Kids we have taken it upon ourselves to be prepared for the appeals process. We have notified all tutors from today to keep strict records of test results, documenting exam papers i.e. photocopies and grades and any other evidence of the pupils work where the desired grade has been achieved.

This is so in the event of if any of our year 11 pupils wishing to appeal in the summer, our tutors will be on hand and prepared to write a written report to support the students appeal along with providing the evidence.

PLEASE NOTE: SATs HAVE BEEN CANCELLED COMPLETELY THIS YEAR AND O PERFORMANCE DATA WILL BE PUBLISHED FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. HOWEVER, TEACHER ASSESSMENTS IN ENGLISH READING, WRITING AND MATHS AT KS1 AND OTHER ASSESSMENTS AT KS2 WILL REMAIN.

IF YOU DO WISH TO GO THROUGH THE APPEALS PROCESS IN THE SUMMER TIME PLEASE CONTACT SMART KIDS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE THROUGH OUR EMAIL, BY ATTACHING A COPY OF THE GRADES GIVEN AND THE REASON FOR THE APPEAL. THIS IS SO OUR TUTORS CAN BEST HELP YOUR CHILD!
